Skills

Birth - 6th Certified

Although dabbling in the thought of pursuing a Secondary education certification, I ultimately decided to earn my Bachelor's in Elementary education in both General Education and Special Education. While each level of education provides its strengths and challenges, my heart guided me to Elementary with a primary goal of hooking students at a young age to take control of their education through demonstrating and practicing reflectiveness, promoting open-mindset, and encouraging risk-taking.

Literacy

Through conversations with a colleague, I was told, "If I was told I had to teach a student how to read, I wouldn't know where to start." This made the wheels in my mind turn. Would I know where to start or what program to implement if I was expected to teach a student how to read? Thus began my journey of Literacy certification. Reading and writing are the basis of academic success. Providing students with a strong foundation in literacy will increase confidence, knowledge and provide them with a skillset to work towards independence in their learning.

Gifted and Talented

During the summer of 2020, I came across Molloy's Gifted Education Extension program. This program piqued my interest as I strive to be the best educator I can for my students. Along with my Special Education background, this extension has helped to provide me with a skill set to truly differentiate my teaching and reach students on all levels.
